This work by Carles Planell dates from approximately 1955, a period when the artist was an active member of the avant-garde Grupo Silex collective. Formed in the early 1950s, the Grupo Silex was a Spanish art group that championed abstract and geometric artistic styles, rejecting the representational traditions that had dominated the country's art scene.
